The use of films in education.

Imagen
The use of films or publicitary spots can be a good tool to practice listening and speaking. We have proposed the following activity:  In this activity the students will have to make a dub from Spanish to English from the film’s scene. The purpose of this activity is to highlight the differences language can make on scenes from different countries (changing the way a sentence is told… etc.) and to strengthen oral communication in English, as well as having to have a huge understanding of the language to come across with the correct translation. For that activity we are going to use a Peppa Pig´s chapter and a Dora la exploradora's chapter, which is an A1-A2 level. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5E6pFYqL_es   https://youtu.be/2CHIcsJ360M

What is a Wiki? The term wiki comes from the Hawaiian word "wikiwiki" which means "fast". Originally, its purpose was to create the simplest online database that could work. Broadly speaking, a wiki is an online publishing system that allows you to create Web pages, quickly and efficiently, with links and any multimedia element: audio, images, videos, presentations, animations, etc.  It is characterized by the fact that any Internet user who wishes can modify the content of a page. Which are the advantages of using Wiki? Wikis promote collaborative project-based learning by providing an important motivating component for students. A great advantage of this format is the fact that the teacher can know which of their students make contributions and the specific way in which they interact with the proposed content. This will give students more motivation to add information. Its use as collaborative writing is one of its main educational applications, since it motivat...

Activities:  LESSON 1: Activity 1. Train your ear (20 minutes) This activity consists of using the free online website (also downloadable as an app for smart devices) “Lyricstraining” . With this tool, children will improve their listening skills by trying to understand their favorite English songs. The way this website works is pretty simple, the video clip of the song will start running and children will have to fill in the blank spaces with what they think the singer said on that song.It is important to highlight that this activity will also improve their typing skills, as a little bit of speed is required to end victorious in the game. To run this activity we will first introduce them to the website. There is no account required to access and it is completely free. The selection of the songs is completely up to the teacher, however, it is highly recommendable that the songs are slow and that the difficulty mode is set in easy, otherwise the level of difficulty would be t...

Unit Justification

Unit Justification: The lessons are prepared for year 5/6 of Primary Education.  In this unit we teach the topic of communication. The Royal Decree and the last Order recognize as one of the main topics the ability to communicate in our language and in a foreign one. Moreover, the law emphasizes the needed skills to talk in public and communicate a message. We take into account  the “digital competence”.  We focus on the following objectives, contents and competences that we want children to acquire, these are in the Orden ECD/65/2021, de 15 de enero, by which the relationship between competences, contents and evaluation criteria of the primary education are described.  We are using a Project Based Learning (PBL), because according to the Royal Decree 126/2014, it is a good method by which students engage in problem solving to develop their knowledge or capacities.
