-Competencia digital (CD). Information and communication technologies offer the possibility of communicating in real time with any part of the world and also the simple and immediate access to an incessant flow of information that increases every day. Knowledge of a foreign language offers the possibility of communicating. More importantly, it creates real, functional contexts of communication.

-Competencia en comunicación lingüística (CCL). In a direct way, the study of a foreign language contributes to the development of competence in linguistic communication, completing, enriching and filling this general communicative capacity with new comprehensive and expressive nuances. Learning a foreign language, based on the development of communicative skills, will contribute to the development of this key competence in the same sense as the first language.

Methodology (Activities and timing).

-Competencias sociales y cívicas (CSC). Languages serve speakers to communicate, but they are also a vehicle for cultural transmission. Learning a foreign language implies the knowledge of cultural traits and facts linked to the different communities of speakers of the same. This learning, well oriented from school, must be translated into both the ability and interest to know other cultures and to relate to other people, speakers or learners of that language.  At the same time, knowledge of another language and cultural traits different from one's own, contributes to the better understanding and appreciation of one's own language and culture; it promotes respect, recognition and acceptance of cultural and behavioral differences, helping us to understand and appreciate both identity traits and differences.

-Learn to learn (LTL). All action communicative, requires the implementation of planning strategies, review and evaluation or adjustment, which implies the need for a permanent presence of self-regulation as a learning mechanism. The application of pre-acquired learning is also needed  and use them in those communicative situations where they are required.
