What is a Wiki?
The term wiki comes from the Hawaiian word "wikiwiki" which means "fast". Originally, its
purpose was to create the simplest online database that could work. Broadly speaking, a wiki is an
online publishing system that allows you to create Web pages, quickly and efficiently, with links
and any multimedia element: audio, images, videos, presentations, animations, etc.
It is characterized by the fact that any Internet user who wishes can modify the content of a page.
Which are the advantages of using Wiki?
Wikis promote collaborative project-based learning by providing an important motivating
component for students. A great advantage of this format is the fact that the teacher can know
which of their students make contributions and the specific way in which they interact with the
proposed content. This will give students more motivation to add information.
Its use as collaborative writing is one of its main educational applications, since it motivates
the carrying out of research, summaries and different types of texts according to their point of view
and sharing this activity with the rest of their classmates and that can serve as a reference for
anyone outside the classroom who is interested in the topic.
Here we offer an activity in which the students would have to type the terms that appear in the didactic unit activities.
